Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know About Shopiverb

Have questions about how Shopiverb works? Here are answers to some of the most common questions from music retailers selling through Shopify and Reverb.

What is Shopiverb?

Shopiverb is a software platform built for musical instrument retailers who sell through both Shopify and Reverb. It connects the two platforms and helps keep inventory coordinated, reducing the need to manually update the same inventory in multiple places.

Who is Shopiverb for?

Shopiverb is designed specifically for music retailers, including guitar shops, full-line music stores, specialty retailers, used and vintage dealers, and online musical instrument businesses.

It's particularly useful for retailers selling limited-quantity or one-of-a-kind gear across multiple sales channels.

How does Shopiverb work?

You connect your Shopify store and Reverb account to Shopiverb and associate your Shopify products with their corresponding Reverb listings.

Shopiverb then monitors inventory activity and keeps connected inventory coordinated between the two platforms.

Does Shopiverb automatically sync inventory?

Yes. Shopiverb is designed to automatically synchronize inventory between connected Shopify products and Reverb listings.

When inventory changes on a connected sales channel, Shopiverb updates the corresponding inventory on the other connected channel.

Will Shopiverb prevent me from selling the same item twice?

Shopiverb is designed to significantly reduce the risk of double-selling, particularly with one-of-a-kind and limited-quantity gear.

However, no inventory synchronization system can guarantee that a double sale will never occur. Shopify and Reverb are separate platforms, and synchronization can be affected by API response times, outages, simultaneous purchases, internet connectivity, or other circumstances outside Shopiverb's control.

How quickly does inventory sync?

Shopiverb is designed to process inventory changes as quickly as possible after receiving information from the connected platform.

Actual synchronization times can vary because Shopify and Reverb operate independent systems and APIs. For this reason, we don't promise that every update will be instantaneous.

Do I need both a Shopify store and a Reverb account?

Yes. To use Shopiverb's Shopify-to-Reverb synchronization features, you'll need an active Shopify store and Reverb account.

Does Shopiverb replace Shopify or Reverb?

No. Shopiverb works with Shopify and Reverb.

Shopify remains your ecommerce platform, Reverb remains your marketplace account, and Shopiverb helps connect inventory and related information between them.

Can Shopiverb work with my existing products and Reverb listings?

Yes. Shopiverb is designed to connect existing Shopify products with their corresponding Reverb listings, so you don't have to start your inventory from scratch.

What happens if my Shopify product and Reverb listing use different titles?

The titles don't necessarily need to be identical. Shopiverb connects the appropriate product and listing so inventory can be coordinated between them.

You'll want to make sure you're connecting the correct Shopify product to the correct Reverb listing.

What kinds of products can I manage with Shopiverb?

Shopiverb is built around musical instrument retail and can be used with inventory such as guitars, basses, amplifiers, effects pedals, drums, keyboards, pro audio equipment, accessories, parts, used equipment, vintage gear, and other music-related products.

Is Shopiverb good for used and one-of-a-kind gear?

That's one of the situations where Shopiverb can be especially valuable.

When you have only one used guitar, vintage amp, boutique pedal, or other unique item and it's listed on both Shopify and Reverb, keeping the available quantity coordinated between the two platforms is particularly important.

Can I choose which products Shopiverb manages?

Shopiverb is designed around connecting the products and listings you want managed together rather than assuming every product in your store should automatically be connected.

What happens if I manually change inventory?

Shopiverb is designed to monitor inventory changes on connected products and keep corresponding inventory coordinated. The exact result can depend on where the change is made and how the product is configured.

What happens if Shopify or Reverb is temporarily unavailable?

Shopiverb depends on Shopify and Reverb's systems and APIs to exchange information.

If either platform experiences an outage, delay, rate limitation, or other technical problem, synchronization may temporarily be delayed. Shopiverb cannot control the availability of third-party platforms.

Shopify itself requires inventory-syncing apps to transfer synchronized data accurately across Shopify and connected platforms.

Is Shopiverb affiliated with Shopify or Reverb?

No. Shopiverb is an independent software platform that integrates with Shopify and Reverb.

This application uses the Reverb API but is not endorsed, created by or certified by Reverb.com, LLC.

Reverb provides its API for integrations including listing creation, order synchronization, and real-time updates through webhooks.

Is my store information secure?

Shopiverb is designed to use authorized connections to communicate with supported platforms. Shopify applications use authenticated API access with permissions approved by the merchant, and Shopify requires apps to request only the access scopes necessary for their functionality.

For more information about how Shopiverb handles information, see our Privacy Policy.

Does Shopiverb store my Shopify or Reverb password?

Shopiverb does not need your Shopify or Reverb password to perform normal authorized integrations. Connections are established using the authorization mechanisms provided by the respective platforms.

What happens if I disconnect Shopiverb?

Once an integration is disconnected or its authorization is revoked, Shopiverb can no longer perform synchronization through that connection.

Your products and listings remain on Shopify and Reverb; disconnecting Shopiverb does not delete your accounts on those platforms.

How much does Shopiverb cost?

Shopiverb offers subscription plans designed for different sizes and needs of music retailers.

Visit our Pricing Plans page for current plans, features, and pricing.

Can I cancel my Shopiverb subscription?

Yes. You can cancel your Shopiverb subscription subject to the terms of your current billing plan. Your subscription will not renew after cancellation becomes effective.
